31 Μαΐ 2017 · Bottom line, if I don’t want to have my happy stolen by thick patches of mud, water hyacinth, and alligator grass, then I need a mud motor like bird poop needs a freshly waxed sports car. So, I priced a new mud motor with an engine ranging in horsepower from 6.5 to 9 HP.
Re: Homemade 13HP longtail (mad mud motor plans) I wouldn't weld the shroud on, I'd use bolts and fender washers. It will mak it easier to work on when you have to change the universal or bearing etc. Wed Jun 22, 2016 7:15 pm.

So my new thread will be as detailed as possible with pictures of the progress of how my motor is going. This is for a small 12ft.

11 Μαρ 2017 · Built my own surface drive mud motor last year. Bought some plans off eBay for a 6.5hp build and then beefed everything up to handle a 13hp. Cut all my own parts with a 4.5 inch cut of wheel which added a ton of time to the build.

13 Φεβ 2018 · total invested for everthing is 1300. 20 hp horizontal engine. a 11 x 10 prop all the metal, chain and sprockets. the rig is looking good so far one more day and it should be finished then i have to do some testing. we decided to go with a chain drive setup. and 3 to 1 ratio.
