This creator will allow you to put different pieces of various weapons together to create a kind of template for a weapon. It's mostly meant for inspiration as there are no colors, but if you're a little creative and confident enough with an editing program you can create some fun results.

If I were to run a game with this, I'd allow players to use certain loot to add traits to items they craft without spending points. Add dragon claws to any slashing weapon for a free Lacerate. Add troll bones to any bludgeoning weapon for a free Overwhelm. Etc...
You can host a copy of 5etools on anything that can run a basic webserver—examples include your computer, your phone, a Raspberry Pi, or a free EC2 / Compute Engine instance. Download the files and images, copy them into your server's root directory, and enjoy!
I made this system in order to help fighters and other martial classes be able to 1. have a diverse set of weapons for different situations and 2. be able to do some area of effect damage, like casters. I have done a lot of calculations using a Dice Calculator, so it should be balanced overall.
