  1. 15 Ιαν 2008 · I have been reading alot about the 2.7L engines dying around 30000 miles. Anyone out there having this problem. Seems the engines get gunked up with sludge real bad and the engines seizes. Timing belt breaking etc............

  2. 18 Αυγ 2012 · I'm working on a 07 Base Charger with a 2.7 V6. Was towed to shop with radiator already removed. Customer complained that vehicle overheated on the road and they had it towed to a friends house to try and repair. Seems that this was the third time that this has happened.

  3. 7 Αυγ 2017 · Some of the issues you're describing were caused by my EGR Valve that failed. I had rough Idle, loss of power, surging at low cruising speed, misfiring, and stalling when accelerating from a stop. However it will eventually throw a P0404 or P0406 for this.

  4. 6 Αυγ 2009 · The 2.7L's started out as a very bad motor when they were introduced for the Intrepid back in 98'. They were badly designed, and had issues with sludge. Many of them in the first few years failed well before 50K miles. They failed violently too, many had thrown rods...

  5. 18 Απρ 2005 · I just rebuilt a 2001 2.7 engine at 114,000 miles and YES it had a sludge problem. Technically, it was only the water pump broke, but it was so sludged up that I had to rebuid the entire engine. The two things that I see is... when the water pump starts to go bad (and it will), water is released in the oil.

  6. 6 Οκτ 2003 · Severity of engine problems due to this manufacturing defect depend on oil change schedules and oil filter change schedules. Severity could run from a severe knocking at certain engine RPMs, to jumped valve timing, to a complete and catastrophic engine seizure.

  7. 27 Οκτ 2009 · Update to the new style timing chain, tensioner, and water pump (heavier and less problems), if you have an older engine. Change PCV valve and hose once every 2 years, or if the hose becomes mushy.
