6 Ιουν 2008 · I recently purchased a 2001 Chrysler Sabering with the 2.7 DOHC V6. I researched this engine after the purchase to find a lot of info regarding premature engine failures related to oil sludging. This car has 117000 miles on it, and I am looking for a recommendation of oil.
18 Απρ 2005 · At least I have a fresh start. With 2000 miles on the new engine, I've changed my oil twice and plan to switch to synthetic after break-in. Also, I'm adding an engine oil cooler (Hayden 457) this weekend in an effort to keep the oil cooler.
6 Οκτ 2003 · Severity of engine problems due to this manufacturing defect depend on oil change schedules and oil filter change schedules. Severity could run from a severe knocking at certain engine RPMs, to jumped valve timing, to a complete and catastrophic engine seizure.
17 Φεβ 2007 · There is probably oil in the coolant, which means there is a leak somewhere, water pump, head gasket, etc. Its probably also sludged up, and may need a timing chain and guides. Check out this thread. It is a good option for replacing the engine, and is cheaper and more reliable than getting another 2.7. Dan C.

DIAGNOSIS: Verify engine oil pressure as described on page 9-21 of the 1999 Concorde/Intrepid/LHS/300M service manual (Publication No. 81-270-9140). If engine oil pressure is within specification perform the Repair Procedure. PARTS REQUIRED: 1 05017800AA Wire Terminal/Vent
25 Ιουλ 2020 · These engines use oil pressure to tension the timing belt so any sludge build up slacks the belt and can cause engine failure. Might try to start using synthetic oil.” Response Number Three
16 Νοε 2020 · The 2.7 liter engine's timing chain drove the water pump (the oil pump was direct-drive from the crank); the engine was an interference design, making the timing chain a prudent choice over a belt. The heads and block were extended to provide a cavity for the chain.
