18 Απρ 2005 · From reading all the posts on the "sludge" issue causing premature engine failure on the 2.7, it appears to me that this was fixed starting in model year 2001. I don't see the problem on 2001 and up? Am I correct, or are there the same failures on the 2001-2005 2.7 engines?
15 Ιαν 2008 · I have been reading alot about the 2.7L engines dying around 30000 miles. Anyone out there having this problem. Seems the engines get gunked up with sludge real bad and the engines seizes.
18 Αυγ 2012 · I'm working on a 07 Base Charger with a 2.7 V6. Was towed to shop with radiator already removed. Customer complained that vehicle overheated on the road and they had it towed to a friends house to try and repair. Seems that this was the third time that this has happened.
7 Μαρ 2016 · On Friday I was driving and starting hearing a ticking/clicking rattling type sound that increased as I accelerated. It makes this sound at idle, and when I start it up. Has anyone had this problem and found how to repair it? I hope the engine isn't shot. I found a youtube video of the same engine with the same sound. https://youtu.be/XnV7XUPfaFk

6 Αυγ 2009 · The 2.7L's started out as a very bad motor when they were introduced for the Intrepid back in 98'. They were badly designed, and had issues with sludge. Many of them in the first few years failed well before 50K miles. They failed violently too, many had thrown rods...
