22 Μαΐ 2024 · Bladder stones, also known as uroliths or cystic calculi, are mineral calcifications that form in the bladder when there is a high salt concentration in urine. They look like rocks and can range from small grains of sand to larger than a golf ball. The most common type of bladder stones found in dogs are struvite bladder stones.
The most common signs of bladder stones in dogs are: blood in the urine (called hematuria) and; straining to urinate (called dysuria). Bleeding occurs because the stones rub against the bladder wall, irritating and damaging the tissues.
