18 Απρ 2024 · Clinical signs of whipworm infestation vary depending on the number of worms the cat hosts. If there are only a few worms, many cats won’t have any signs. Cats with a larger number of worms can develop bloody diarrhea with straining and frequent, urgent bowel movements.
How are whipworms treated? There are several drugs that are effective against whipworms, including fenbendazole (Panacur®), milbemycin oxime (Interceptor®), moxidectin + imidacloprid (Advantage Multi®), and emodepside + praziquantel (Profender®).
Whipworm infestation in cats is generally treated on an outpatient basis as the medication for whipworms is generally easy to administer. Your veterinarian may prescribe any of the following antiparasitic agents to terminate your cat’s whipworms: Mebendazole, febantel/praziquantel/pyrantel pamoate, or fenbendazole.
