Dosage calculation is a mandatory skill for nurses in any clinical setting. Since medication administration is one of the primary roles of clinical nurses, being able to calculate correct dosages is paramount to safe practice.
This is a liquid dose calculation. The formula to calculate a liquid dose is as follows: Liquid dose (ml) = dose prescribed (mg) dose in stock (mg) x stock volume (ml). The dose prescribed is 350mg, the dose in stock is 15mg, and the stock volume is 2ml. We substitute these values into the equation: Liquid dose (ml) = 350 mg 15 mg x 2ml = 46.67 ml.
