Nowadays, I organise my music library and include various metadata (like lyrics, composer information and cover art), and Winamp wasn't designed to take that into advantage. Now that I think about it, it was mostly made for people who had a bunch of MP3 files and just wanted to play them.
Hey, i’ve been trying to find a version of Winamp 2 for a while for an old Windows XP computer of mine, but the official Winamp website doesn’t have any older versions for download, and every other site that I find that apparently has a download seems incredibly sketchy.
The best plain 5.666 version is from https://archive.org/download/winamp5666_full_all_redux (it fixes a few things with the last AOL provided version & removes things that don't work after Winamp was sold). With the issue you're having, you're best not to use the 5.8 beta as that has it's own window saving issues depending on the skin being used.
