Doxepin is a nonaddictive, dibenzoxepin-derived, tricyclic antidepressant with antihistaminic properties. At the higher antidepressant dosing, which is >75 mg/d, doxepin inhibits serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake, as well as having an-ticholinergic, antihistaminergic, and anti–α-adrenergic effects.
