Horses doing prolonged aerobic work (eg, endurance and distance riding, lesson horses used for multiple lessons per day, etc) and/or fed high-fat (>5%) rations may have increased needs for vitamin E. Supplementation with 500–1,000 IU vitamin E/day may be necessary for equine animals working hard aerobically and/or fed high-fat (>7%) rations.
