20 Αυγ 2006 · I see that lowes sells pvc well points and inside connectors for the pipe in their well section. I was wondering if you can drive a pvc setup for a shallow well for drinking water for a house. All the parts a alot cheeper than hard pipe and you don't have to worry about future rusting problems.

You won't need too many tools to drive a new well point, and fortunately, the ones you do need are not very expensive. Most DIY plumbing supplies necessary for this job can be purchased at your local Lowe's, Home Depot, ACE Hardware store, or your local plumbing supply store.
Driving the Well Point. To properly drive your well point, the entire point must be below the water table or else the pump will only suck up air. Something to keep in mind, is that the water table will eventually lower as the pump runs, so the point will have to be lower than what the pump can draw the water table down to.
