13 Δεκ 2019 · Sterilization is the process of killing or removing microorganisms. A sterilized medical device is expected to be free of all living microorganisms so that it in itself is incapable of creating infections in patients. Dry heat sterilizers are also known as dry heat ovens or hot air ovens.
A dry heat sterilizer can either be designed as an oven or a heat tunnel. In both cases filtered, hot air is circulated around or blow vertically down onto the objects that are being sterilized. The dry heat ovens vary in size but can easily be over several m3 in volume.
This review compares sterilization by dry heat, steam, gas and ultraviolet radiation in terms of validity and practicability in accordance with international standards and regulations and transfers literature consensus about these methods to CO2 incubators.
