The best du’as for the deceased: اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ وَوَسِّعْ مُدْخَلَهُ وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَنَقِّهِ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ. Oh Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him and give him strength and pardon him.
Transliteration: Inna li-llahi wa Inna ilayhi Raaji’un. Translation: Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him do we return. [Qur’an | Surah Al Baqarah | 2:156] Typically, a Muslim would recite this du’a upon hearing the news of someone passing away or when losing something.
