However, if we feel our or a loved one’s death is near and we are fearing what’s to come, we can recite the following: O Allah! For the affliction of death, one should add: ‘Allahumma Ajjurni fi musibati wakhluf li khairan minha – O Allah compensate me in my affliction, recompense my loss and give me something better in exchange for it.’
