Peace officer duties include, but are not limited to: patrol (vehicle, boat, foot, etc.), issuing citations, writing reports, making physical arrests, conducting investigations, taking command in emergencies, performing search and rescue activities, and providing emergency medical aid.
Duties include general law enforcement, aquatic rescue (by lifeguards and other certified officers), search and rescue, emergency medical response, interpretation of natural, historic and cultural resources, resource protection, park management and proactive enforcement patrol.
Qualifications. Per Government Code §1031.5, candidates must have applied for U.S. citizenship within three years of being appointed to a Ranger or Lifeguard position. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age to be appointed as a peace officer in the State of California.
