1 Νοε 2021 · Deuel Vocational Institution (DVI) officially deactivated September 30, 2021, bringing an end to nearly 70 years of public service in Tracy. The last incarcerated people left DVI at the end of July 2021. Since July, staff have prepared the institution for a “warm-shutdown” status.
One purpose of DVI was to serve as a reception center for newly committed prisoners to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from northern California county jails. The facility also housed "mainline" inmates classified by CDCR as levels II and III.
