2 Ιουλ 2015 · Two studies have demonstrated household sharing of E. coli strains between humans and dogs. Thus, the family dog may serve as a reservoir of uropathogenic E. coli that can colonize the human gastrointestinal tract and potentially cause UTIs.
E. coli panel. Test code: P0016 - Qualitative detection and differentiation by PCR of pathogenic strains of E. coli in dogs and cats -- ETEC, EHEC, EIEC, EPEC and EAEC. The intestinal tracts of most mammals, including dogs, cats and humans, are colonized by Escherichia coli bacteria. Most strains of E. coli found in dogs and cats are normal, ...
1 Αυγ 2023 · Among 119 patients with community-acquired E. coli UTIs, we recruited 19 patients who lived with a dog or a cat. Fecal swabs from the household pet(s) were screened by antimicrobial selective culture to detect E. coli displaying the resistance profile of the human strain causing UTI.
Enterotoxigenic E. coli have isolated from human, lambs, calves and dogs, causing profuse diarrhea in neonatal animals and cholera-like disease in humans. ETECs can be colonized through the factors such as F5, F6, F17 and F41 and produce enterotoxins including LTI, LTII, STa and STb.
31 Αυγ 2021 · Escherichia coli was the most prevalent bacterial species (54.7% and 55.6% of feline and canine isolates, respectively) followed by Proteus mirabilis in dog samples (22.7%) and Enterococcus spp. in cat samples (23.2%).
1 Νοε 2011 · The identification of Gram-negative coccobacilli within macrophages can be confirmed using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) probes. 115 Colonic tissue culture can be used to isolate E. coli and optimize antibiotic selection given the increasing incidence of antibiotic resistance in Boxers. 116
20 Απρ 2020 · More globally, humans and dogs share common diseases caused by extra-intestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) (LeCuyer et al., 2018; Manges et al., 2019), of which urinary tract infections (UTIs) are by far the most common.
