26 Ιαν 2009 · An oem diamond key will not work with an e36 because it is a sealed key. The battery in the key is not replaceable, and is charged automatically when the key is in the ignition. E36s don't have the electronics to charge the key this way.
10 Φεβ 2007 · I prefer the compact and integrated buttons on the 2001+ E46 keys, where the buttons are located on the key itself and not on a separate fob. I'm wondering if it is possible to program my current key+fob info into an E46 key?
Step 0: Buy a FOB housing. This is pretty simple, I got mine off of ebay for 25 dollars, I'm not sure if its okay to put a link, but for me searching "key fob housing e90 bmw" or some combination of those keywords worked for me. Step 1: Bring out the disgusting fob whose housing you want to replace, here's mine:
