5 Μαΐ 2004 · What Are Temporomandibular Disorders? Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD) are a complex and poorly understood set of conditions characterized by pain in the jaw joint and surrounding tissues and limitation in jaw movements.
The most characteristic symptoms of disorders of the tempo-romandibular joint (TMJ) are orofacial pain, noises in the joint, limitation of movement – mouth opening – or a combination of these. Limitation may present suddenly as locking or may be slowly progressive.
Diagnosis and management of TMJ dysfunction (pain on palpation, OA, and itation of motion) should be considered when patients have symp-toms of unexplained ear fullness and have been cleared for ear infection or other ear-related pathology. Key Words. Ear pressure; hearing loss; temporomandibular temporomandibular joint disorder.
