This Antebellum beauty was built in 1840 making it the oldest courthouse in the state. I think that the old gnarled oak trees surrounding this courthouse add to its Southern character. It was designed by architect J. L. Savage and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.
The Twentieth Judicial District Court is one of Louisiana’s 43 judicial districts and has original jurisdiction of all civil and criminal matters in East and West Feliciana Parishes. There are two elected judges (Division A and Division B) in the Twentieth Judicial District.
