This data is produced using relevant atmospheric model profiles and surface parameters from the operational high-resolution forecast. These are used to calculate brightness temperatures, which can be visualised as simulated satellite images.
5 Μαρ 2024 · Since ECMWF medium-range ensemble (ENS) and high-resolution (HRES) forecasts now have the same horizontal resolution, we plan to stop using the term ‘HRES’. Find out about the time frame for this change.
ECMWF is the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. We are both a research institute and a 24/7 operational service, producing global numerical weather predictions and other data for our Member and Co-operating States and the broader community.
Latest forecast. 2 m temperature and 30 m wind. Air temperatures at 2 m above the earth's surface approximate most closely to the conditions a person would most likely experience... Latest forecast. 100 m wind and mean sea level pressure. These charts show surface pressure patterns.
Latest forecast. Simulated images (infrared) and 850 hPa wet bulb potential temperature. 850 hPa wet-bulb potential temperature is commonly used to identify air masses and a strong gradient of wet bulb potential temperature is indicative of fronts between two different air masses... Latest forecast.
Hourly steps to step 90 for all four runs. The model computes between the latitudes -78 and 90, the output grid is artificially extended to -90. The purchase of the "Basic Set" +72, +96, +120, +144, +168 hrs is a mandatory prerequisite for the purchase of time steps in the range 12 to 66 hours.
HRES - High Resolution Forecast. The HRES is a single run created twice daily giving forecasts to Day10 based on 00 and 12UTC data times. The HRES (current resolution 9km) provides a more detailed description of future weather than the control or individual member of the ENS.
