The primary highways of Ecuador are designated with both a name and an alphanumeric designation. The highway designations begin with the letter E followed by a number on a shield that looks like the ones of the USA interstate highways .
The biggest city is Guayaquil on the coast. Cuenca and Loja is famous for its old buildings and colonial architecture. Peru borders Ecuador to the south, and Colombia borders it to the north. The Galápagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean are also part of Ecuador and are famous for lots of animals.

The Andes Mountains run through Ecuador, and it’s home to Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. The highest peak in Ecuador is Mount Chimborazo in the Andes, which rises to 20,702 feet (6,310 meters). 3.
