The Kalaallit Nunaat High Arctic Tundra is the most northern land on the planet. Only the most cold-hardy plants and animals are able to survive in this forbidding area. The flagship species of the Kalaallit Nunaat High Arctic Tundra is the northern collared lemming ( Dicrostonyx groenlandicus ).
