Abstract This article examines the developments and challenges of higher education in developing countries. Using a thorough qualitative interview of deans, directors and heads of Department of the University of Ghana, this paper draws on their analysis to discover unexplored issues that affect the universities in developing countries.
14 Μαΐ 2017 · In 2010, the University of Ghana organized a major meeting with the theme: “Harnessing Science and Technology for National Development” which focused on some of the issues impacting national development efforts and how to make university research results available.
While we are by no means suggesting a direct causal relationship between the massification of higher education and widening social inequality in Ghana, the paper examines the ways in which trends in university education have influenced this problem.
Institutions- of higher education in Ghana are, essentially, elitist in nature. Certain traditional linkages with British models of. university operation account for this condition and help contribute to what has been commonly referred to as the "elite-mass gap." by university-based resources.
