1 Μαρ 2021 · During the last 50 years, novel biomaterials and tissue engineering techniques have been investigated to produce alternative vascular substitutes that recapitulate the unique elastic mechanical features of blood vessels.
Elasticity in Arteries: A similar combination of rubbery and stiff materials creates common mechanical properties in blood vessels of vertebrates and some invertebrates.
17 Νοε 2021 · Experimentally, blood has been confirmed to demonstrate a variety of non-Newtonian rheological characteristics, including pseudoplasticity, viscoelasticity, and thixotropy.
1 Σεπ 2015 · Pulse wave velocity (AoPWV) in the aorta correlates with aortic and coronary elasticity. In this work, we present a neural network approach for estimating AoPWV.
From the mechanical point of view, keywords expressing basic characteristics of the blood vessel walls are as follows: (1) large deformation and nonlinear mechanical properties, (2) incompressibility, (3) viscoelasticity, and (4) anisotropy. Details of each characteristic are described in the following sections.
Elasticity can be altered by increasing wall stiffness or increasing energy dissipation so that less stored strain energy is available to do work on circulating blood. Increased wall stiffness also increases the pulse wave velocity (PWV) of traveling pressure waves in the cardiovascular system.
