Moscovium is a synthetic chemical element; it has symbol Mc and atomic number 115. It was first synthesized in 2003 by a joint team of Russian and American scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna, Russia.
Following a series of alpha-decays, the element 115 atoms decayed into long-lived isotopes (multiple hours) of element 105 (Db). The great-great-great granddaughter Db isotopes were also chemically identified in subsequent experiments.
2 Σεπ 2013 · Confirmatory evidence for the existence of element 115 has been reported by an international research team that successfully used X-ray detection methods for the first time. The new work should bolster the case for adding the element to the periodic table almost a decade after it was first spotted.
28 Αυγ 2013 · Nuclear researchers call it the island of stability. Elements on this island are even heavier than 115, but strange quantum effects keep them from breaking apart.
14 Δεκ 2018 · Metrics. Yuri Oganessian relates the story of the formation and decay of a doubly odd moscovium nucleus. Element 115 was the first superheavy element with an odd atomic number (Z) that we...
Victor Ninov (Bulgarian: Виктор Нинов; born June 24, 1959) is a Bulgarian physicist and former researcher who worked primarily in creating superheavy elements. He is known for the co-discoveries of elements 110, 111, and 112 (darmstadtium, roentgenium and copernicium, respectively). [1]
6 Νοε 2015 · In total 4 correlated alpha-decay chains following the reaction calcium (Z=20) on americium (Z=95) were observed and attributed to element 115. These findings were later-on confirmed and extended with the isotopes 289-115 and 290-115, the latter solely as daughter of 294-117.
