- Cash Assistance
General Relief (GR) is a County-funded program that provides cash aid if you are an adult without any income or resources, and children in certain special circumstances who are ineligible for federal or State programs.
Residents of Los Angeles County may apply for GR in person in a Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) GR district office, by mail, fax, or online through the Your Benefits Now (YBN) self-service portal available on the DPSS website.
Employable: Customers with minor restrictions or no medical conditions that would prevent employment. GR customers who are employable may receive GR for nine months in a 12-month period, provided they continue to comply with START requirements.
The GROW Program is a Welfare-to-Work program for all GR participants who are able to work. GROW provides employment and training services to help employable GR participants obtain jobs and achieve self-sufficiency.
General Relief (GR) is a County-funded program that provides temporary cash aid to eligible indigent adult lawful residents who are ineligible for Federal or State programs. If you receive General Relief you may be required to participate in the CalFresh Employment & Training/ General Relief Work Program.
