This placed the employment rate at 92.2 percent, which is not significantly different from last year's rate of 91.9 percent. Five regions have a high employment rate, with 96 for every 100 of their labor force reported as employed in July 2007.
This coincided with the rise in wage and salary employment (5.0%) and the increase in full-time employment (4.7%). Unemployment rate fell to 7.3% from 8.0% a year ago – due in part to the decline in labor force participation rate (LFPR) from 64.2% to 64.0%.
Overview. The labor market remained resilient in July 2007, notwithstanding the slump in agricultural employment due to the drought that affected Northern Luzon. Industry employment recovered (3.9%) from previous year’s sluggish growth while employment in the service sector continued to expand (2.7%).
