1 Σεπ 2023 · Enculturation refers to the process through which an individual learns and internalizes the norms, values and expectations of their own culture. Enculturation can be seen as a specific part of socialization, as the former is related to culture while the latter is about society.
Enculturation and acculturation are used in many social sciences discourses including sociology, psychology, anthropology, political science, education, and linguistics; however, in keeping with the root word “culture” the home discipline is anthropology.

Enculturation is the process whereby individuals learn their group’s culture through experience, observation, and instruction. To learn is to develop the knowledge and skills needed to participate in the communal, cultural practices and to become a fully functioning member of the community.
