Movies about the end of the world, but where it actually happens and there's nothing to do to stop it. REQUESTING. A good example would be Melancholia. Or this awesome animated series I just saw on Netflix, Carol and the end of the world. I think don't look up is in that category as well.
Not the end of our world, yet the end of their world, Rogue One. If you're not into Star Wars, imagine the film set in 1942 Paris and it's the Maquis vs. the Nazis.
Greenland was a surprisingly good movie. I highly suggest it. How It Ends on Netflix is pretty good. ETA: To be fair, I mostly watch terrible SyFy channel disaster movies with ridiculous cgi and horrendous acting. How It Ends seemed like a step up. Plus, Forest Whitaker is cool. Will never recommend again!
Give me your best end of the world movies. REQUESTING. Particularly, I enjoy the chaos and destruction, but I'll take any that fit the mold. Personal favourites are: The Edge of Tomorrow, 2012, The Tomorrow War, War of the Worlds, Pacific Rim, and The Day After Tomorrow.
Lots of people prepared for something to go wrong, but it was only the nutjobs who thought the world would end.
The film has themes of how people will follow those they love to the ends of the earth. There's also a looming nuclear satellite crisis, which some are calling the end of the world. The cinematography is some of the best.
The year 2000 didn’t mark our world’s end as some prophesied (the biggest story was a drawn-out American election), but the early 21st Century still had a dark cloud formed from the ashes of 9/11 that loomed throughout the aughts. That tragedy set a tone of fear and division, prompting the protracted Iraq War.
