1 Μαΐ 2007 · Abstract. This paper furnishes robust evidence that the WTO has had a strong positive impact on trade, amounting to about 120% of additional world trade (or US$ 8 trillion in 2000 alone). The impact has, however, been uneven. This, in many ways, is consistent with theoretical models of the GATT/WTO.
What are the channels through which RTAs promote trade? How to design more efficient and effective trade agreements? How to estimate the partial effects of trade agreements? How to account for the potential endogeneity of trade agreements in our econometric analysis? How to quantify their general equilibrium effects?
1 Σεπ 2011 · Our findings suggest that membership in the GATT/WTO has a significant trade-promoting effect for dyads that have both chosen to be members. The effect is larger than bilateral trade preference arrangements, GSP, and larger than when only one country in a dyad has chosen to be a member.
