Erosion is the process by which weathering materials (sediments) are moved from one place to another. Erosion can be caused by wind, water, ice, or gravity. Deposition is the process by which eroded materials are deposited or laid down in a new location.
Water, wind, and other natural forces cause rocks and earth to wear away. These forces also move bits of rock and earth to new places. This movement changes the shape of the land. These processes are called erosion.
