23 Απρ 2023 · The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (sedimentation rate, sed rate, or ESR for short) is a commonly performed hematology test that may indicate and monitor an increase in inflammatory activity within the body caused by one or more conditions such as autoimmune disease, infections, or tumors.
The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR or sed rate) is the rate at which red blood cells in anticoagulated whole blood descend in a standardized tube over a period of one hour. It is a common hematology test, and is a non-specific measure of inflammation.
9 Σεπ 2024 · The test for ESR measures the distance that red cells have fallen after one hour in a vertical column of anticoagulated blood under the influence of gravity. ESR is a useful indication of the presence and intensity of an inflammatory process.
13 Ιουν 2024 · The normal sedimentation rate (Westergren method) is 0-15 millimeters per hour for males and 0-20 millimeters per hour for females. The sedimentation rate may normally be slightly higher in the elderly.
