Arthur Schaupeter has over 25 years of experience in golf course architecture. He has completed both new golf courses and renovations of existing golf courses, and has worked with a wide variety of client types including municipalities, developers, private clubs, daily fee facilities, and alternative golf facilities.
Like his partner, Bill Coore was exposed to traditional golf architecture during his formative years. A native North Carolinian, Coore played much of his early golf at the Donald Ross courses of Pinehurst and the Perry Maxwell designed Old Town Club in Winston-Salem.
Ross remained at Oakley for eleven years before moving thirty miles northeast to Essex Country Club. Of course, he immediately set about redesigning the club’s course, retaining only two holes, but the project wasn’t completed until 1917, four years after he’d left the club.
Forrest established his firm in 1988, today known as Forrest Richardson Golf Course Architects. Their work spans the U.S. from Hawaii and Alaska to the Southwest and East Coast. Internationally they have served clients in Mexico, Central America, Canada, India, Asiatic Russia and throughout Europe.
