The NASW Code of Ethics is a set of standards that guide the professional conduct of social workers. The 2021 update includes language that addresses the importance of professional self-care. Moreover, revisions to Cultural Competence standard provide more explicit guidance to social workers.

18 Μαρ 2023 · This chapter positions an Ethic of Care as a central ethical theory for social work practice and provides examples of how questions about what a compassionate response requires can shift what ought to be done from a focus on rational-objective to the relational-emotional dimension.
This reference brings together theory with ethics to analyse the ideas of social work that enable connections between them to be identified and explored.
While registration allows social workers to practise, the BASW Code of Ethics summarises the values and aspirations which BASW believes should characterise social work in the UK. The Code is binding on all social workers who are BASW members in all roles, sectors and settings in the UK.
