The population projection figures in this report are based on the results of National population and Housing Census of Ethiopia conducted in May 2007. The base population for the projection was obtained from the 2007 Population and Housing Census for each of the regions and adjusted to the mid of the census year, 1 July 2007.
Ethiopia's population is highly diverse, containing over 80 different ethnic groups, the four largest of which are the Oromo, Amhara, Somali and Tigrayans. According to the Ethiopian national census of 2007, the Oromo are the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia, at 34.4% of the nation's population.
