24 Ιουλ 2024 · EURES and cross-border employment: a win-win partnership. Free movement of workers across Member States is one of the fundamental freedoms EU nationals enjoy. EURES cross-border partnerships support this by providing a framework for seamless intra-EU labour mobility.
In line with the objectives of the European Year of Skills, the EURES TMS action is part of the Commission’s commitment to effectively address labour shortages, and enhance the resilience and overall competitiveness of the European labour market.
Intra-EU labour mobility as facilitated by this call for proposals can help to address labour market imbalances and improve labour market's efficiency. It can contribute to improving the allocation of resources and serve as an adjustment mechanism for unbalanced labour markets whilst enabling economies to cope better with economic shocks.
‘Your First EURES job’ (YfEj). The five EURES calls for proposals dealing with matters such as intra-EU mobility in general and targeted mobility schemes for youngsters and person re-entering the labour market launched between 2017-2019 resulted in 48 contracts.
EURES, a system set up by EU legislation, supports specifically the matching of workers across borders by increasing transparency on vacancies available in other Member States, EEA countries and Switzerland.
The EURES tools and services are generally considered as relevant to address intra-EU labour mobility needs, although to different extents. The support to jobseekers and employers is generally well suited to address obstacles to intra-EU labour mobility such as lack of transparent information and administrative barriers.
