The park’s “River of Grass” is a slow-moving, shallow river system that flows southward, creating a mosaic of habitats that support a wide range of plant and animal species.
Use this supplemental fact sheet to learn about ecosystem services, the free benefits to humans, provided by the Everglades.
The questions cover topics like the headwaters and flow of water through the Everglades, dominant ecosystems, impacts of human activities, important species, ongoing restoration efforts, and challenges facing conservation.

In partnership with teachers, we are proud to offer multidisciplinary, curriculum-based activities that bring relevant lessons from the field into the classroom. These materials can be used as pre-site lessons for any in-park field trip.
