The park’s “River of Grass” is a slow-moving, shallow river system that flows southward, creating a mosaic of habitats that support a wide range of plant and animal species.

7. Pass out the “Our Everglades, Our Water Worksheet PreK- Grade 3”. Ask students to write the name of and draw a picture of their favorite Everglades animal. Then, help them write how they or the other people in their household depend on the Everglades for water as well.
The questions cover topics like the headwaters and flow of water through the Everglades, dominant ecosystems, impacts of human activities, important species, ongoing restoration efforts, and challenges facing conservation.
