Wisconsin’s last glacier Maximum extent of the last glaciers in Wisconsin. Movement of the Laurentide Ice Sheet was shaped—to a certain extent—by the landscape. Highlands diverted the glacier into lobes (tongues or fingers of ice) that advanced into the lowland areas.

The great Horicon Marsh is one of many outstanding natural features formed by the Wisconsin glacier. The ice front invaded Wisconsin along several major pathways. Five separate lobes of ice pushed their way across this land. One of these, known as the Green Bay lobe, encroached upon eastern Wisconsin, where it carved out Green Bay.
21 Οκτ 2024 · Devil’s Lake is a remnant of the effects of a glacier plugging an existing river. Moraines formed near the two ends of the valley where the present lake is located, leaving behind the lake. You can still see the ridge line left by the ice. Another kind of lake is a kettle lake.
