13 Σεπ 2009 · The idea of righteous suffering is prevalent in Isaiah 50:4–9 and in the Servant Songs in general. This week’s text, however, emphasizes particular nuances to the more general theme, namely the cost of being faithful to the LORD’s calling and God’s vindication of the servant’s obedience.
23 Δεκ 2015 · Isa 50:4 marks a shift in the language and the relationship involved. In Isa 49, God was addressing the people of Israel who were also His servants. In chapter 50, there is now a narrowing down in focus from Israel as a collective servant, to the personal servant of God.
His saving power is manifested in our words of invitation, our kind words, our words of comfort, and our proclamation (whether from a pulpit or neighbor to neighbor). “he wakens morning by morning, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught” (v. 4b). God speaks to the Servant daily.
David Guzik commentary on Isaiah 50 explains how God cares for Zion inspite of their disbelief, and shows the submission of the Messiah to the Lord.
