Introduction. Humans often exercise strenuously in hot environments for reasons of recreation, vocation, and survival. The magnitude of physiological strain imposed by exercise-environmental stress depends on the individual's metabolic rate and capacity for heat exchange with the environment.
Almost any systematic research on the effects of heat on appetite would be welcome. Beyond the general and vague conclusion that heat suppresses appetite—and possibly renders cooler foods more palatable—researchers are forced to surmise where they would prefer to know.
