An accurate measure of a student’s instructional reading level is determined by a student’s ability to both decode and make meaning of the selection. F & P have created a table to help provide consistency when identifying the appropriate text level for the reader. It is found on page 46 in the System 1
No other assessment has been directly linked to the F&P Text Level Gradient™ to date, so you will also have a reliable and valid assessment to link to guided reading, small-group reading instruction.
14 Σεπ 2020 · F&P timers may be used for levels C-Z for ease in determining percentages. The timer will calculate errors and self-corrections on all levels. Official timing and recording of rate does not begin until Level J.
While young children display a wide distribution of reading skills, each level is tentatively associated with a school grade. Some schools adopt target reading levels for their pupils. This is the grade-level equivalence chart recommended by Fountas & Pinnell.
