8 Σεπ 2023 · I cannot play or pause any video, music or podcast using the F8 key, regardless the keyboard I'm using (magic keyboard or the laptop). It simply doesn't work after some time using the MacBook Air. I've never had an issue like this on all of my prior MacBooks.

You can set the default for function key behavior to function keys rather than shortcuts for brightness, volume, etc. To do it, go to System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Function Keys and turn on the option named ‘Use F1, F2, etc. as standard function keys.’.
