The Canadian Alcohol and Drugs Survey (CADS) is a biennial general population survey of alcohol and drug use among Canadians aged 15 years and older. CADS is conducted by Health Canada, in partnership with Statistics Canada for data collection.
2 Οκτ 2024 · In 2023, a higher proportion of younger Canadians aged 18 to 22 reported not drinking any alcoholic beverages in the past seven days (67%) compared with those in all other age groups (for which the proportions varied from 51% to 57%) (Table 1).
The prevalence of students who reported drinking alcohol and an energy drink on the same occasion (separately or mixed together) in the past 12 months was 18%, unchanged from 2018-19 . Among students in grades 7 to 9, however, consumption increased from 10% in 2018-19 to 12% in 2021-22.
Approximately 15% of Canadians who drink alcohol consume above Canada’s Low-risk Alcohol Drinking Guidelines. The risky use of alcohol is still the most prevalent among young adults (age 18–24). The use and risky use of alcohol by underage youth and young adults has remained steady in recent years.
3 Απρ 2023 · 66% of Canadians aged 15 or older reported consuming alcohol at least once in the 30 days. 6 million Canadians aged 12 and over report heavy drinking at least once a month. About 21% of the Canadian population will meet the criteria for addiction in their lifetime.
20 Δεκ 2021 · New data from the 2019 Canadian Alcohol and Drugs Survey are released today. Although the data were collected before the start of the pandemic, they are an important benchmark for understanding the alcohol and drug use patterns of Canadians.
Through the 2021–22 Canadian Postsecondary Education Alcohol and Drug Use Survey (CPADS), Health Canada collected data on the prevalence and patterns of substance use and associated harms among postsecondary students aged 17–25 across Canada.
