This is due to the legality of distributing ROMs. When you find your Metroid ROM hack, check to see what type of file it is. If it’s a patch and not a full game, the source you get it from should have a guide on patching. If it’s pre-patched, Delta shouldn’t have any issues playing it.
Delta only supports NES, SNES, N64, GB, GBC, GBA, and NDS in the current Public release. And Sega Gamegear/Genesis in the Beta. It’s basically a Nintendo Emulator for iOS. Due to needing JIT it’s no feasible to emulate GameCube with Delta. (As such I run Dolphin on my Android TV instead)
Some rom hacks can be directly downloaded to play right away. Some, however, are downloaded as a mod or "patch". You will need to modify a rom file of the original game with a patch file.

Some ROMs may be corrupted and you will run in difficulties while trying to play them with Delta. If you are attempting to play a "ROM Hack," you may have trouble. While many "ROM Hacks" will run perfectly fine on Delta, some larger hacks may require you to run with additional software.
