24 Αυγ 2017 · Monica Puig Marchán, a retired professional tennis player from Puerto Rico, made history by winning the first-ever gold medal for Puerto Rico at the 2016 Olympics in the women's singles event. Throughout her career, she secured two WTA Tour singles titles and six ITF singles titles.
29 Ιουλ 2019 · 1493 - Voyager Christopher Columbus claims Puerto Rico for Spain. 1898 - Under the Treaty of Paris, Puerto Rico is ceded by the Spanish to the US at the end of the Spanish-American War.

In 1913, Toste was named Official Historian of Puerto Rico. His research into the history of Puerto Rico gave people an insight into the island from the times of the Tainos up until 1927. One of his works "The Indo-Antillano Vocabulary" is valuable in understanding the way of live of the Tainos.
