  1. FAST RESCUE BOAT. Learn how to handle and take charge of fast rescue boats during or after launch in adverse weather and sea conditions. Trainees will know the correct use of all locating devices, including communication and signaling equipment between the rescue boat and a helicopter and the ship, and how to carry out search patterns.

  2. This course provides participants with the knowledge and skill to safely operate a Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) and manage its crew during operation. The course is designed for seafarers who require AMSA endorsement and for personnel who work on floating production storage/offloading units (FPSO) and/or floating storage offloading (FSO) vessels.

  3. The course meets the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW 95) standard, Table A-VI (2-2): Operator Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boat; and is approved by Transport Canada.

  4. Schedule, Class Size, Locations. The Certificate of Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats (PFRB) is a practical training course for seafarers who are required to take charge of a fast rescue boat and any crew on a Merchant Navy vessel who make up part of the FRB crew.

  5. A STCW Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats course is aimed at personnel who will be operating fast rescue boats onboard vessels and consists of theoretical and practical training to meet the learning objectives and stated outcomes for proficiency in section A-V1/2 of the STCW code.

  6. Our Fast Rescue Boats course is run over 3 days, and covers launch and recovery gear, launch and recover of the fast rescue boat and operation of both the boat and its engine. It is a step on from the STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) course.

  7. Successful completion of this course will satisfy the training requirements of Table A-VI/2-2 of the STCW code; “Specification of the Minimum Standard of Competence in Fast Rescue Boats.” Upon completion the certificate is valid for five years.
