15 Δεκ 2021 · Drug overdose deaths reached a staggering 100,000 this past year in the United States - illicit fentanyl accounted for 64% of those deaths; killing an estimated 175 Americans every single day. Since 2019, fentanyl deaths doubled and continue to rise across the country.
21 Μαρ 2024 · The age-adjusted rate of drug overdose deaths increased from 8.2 deaths per 100,000 standard population in 2002 to 32.6 in 2022; however, the rate did not significantly change between 2021 and 2022. Rates decreased between 2021 and 2022 for people ages 15–34 and increased for those age 35 and older.

Age-adjusted death rates of drug overdose deaths in 2021, by selected drugs and race and Hispanic origin. In 2021, among non-Hispanic Black people, the highest age-adjusted rate of drug overdose deaths involved fentanyl. (31.3), followed by cocaine (20.6) and methamphetamine (7.0) (Table 2, Figure 4).
This report provides national drug overdose death rates involving fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and oxycodone by sex, age, race and Hispanic origin, and public health region.
The percent of fentanyl-involved overdose deaths co-involving stimulants is shown by state and year between 2015 and 2021. Data were obtained from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Wide-Ranging Online Database for Epidemiologic Research (CDC WONDER).
